Quasar | Magnetic Nail Polish

Inspiration

The fairies stumbled across an old telescope at a yard sale and became completely obsessed with stargazing, staying up until dawn every night arguing about constellations. When they spotted quasars and pulsars through the lens, Fern declared they absolutely HAD to recreate those swirling cosmic colors in polish form. The problem was finding pigments that could shift and move like actual space phenomena. This led to three weeks of increasingly ridiculous experiments involving everything from blender motors to Fern's old vibrator. Finally, Puck discovered some rare 9D magnetic pigments tucked away in the telescope seller's garage (apparently the old guy was a retired physicist), and suddenly they could create polish that dances and shifts with magnets just like the objects that started their whole obsession.

Application

Magnetic lacquer air cures the effect in place, rather than the UV light cure for gel. With a little bit of patience and practice, you can achieve a lot of the effects that were previously only attainable with gel because DFP formula dry soooo fast!

You’ll want a stick magnet for the cat eye effect this magnet for the glass bead effect.

We found that horseshoe magnets in the #20-#30 pound pull sizes fit most fingers for the velvet effect. These are widely available. Go for a #30 pound size if you have larger hands.

With both types of magnets, you will want your finger on the magnet for the second coat. 

Have fun and paint responsibly! 

1. Apply to a smooth nail surface for best results. We recommend a ridge filling base coat like the Fairytale line we offer. Repeat if necessary and allow to fully dry before proceeding.
   
   
2. Apply one even coat of polish. It will dry fast (within 30 seconds) and starts to dry immediately. We recommend painting your nail with your finger directly on the magnet for the effect you would like. 
   
   *If you don’t get the effect you wanted because the polish dried too fast or the magnet moved, or you didn’t wait long enough for the polish to dry on the magnet…just apply Awesome Sauce remagnetize nail fixer by gently floating a good amount on top. Then wait for the polish to soften and remagnetize and dry. (If you brush on Awesome sauce, you may remove some of the magnetic polish too, so be careful.)
   
   
3. Don’t remove your finger from the magnet just yet. This is where the polish is still soft, and the magnetic pigment will still move because it is heavy in the polish. To get the crispest lines, please be patient. Give it a couple of minutes.
   
   
4. When completely dry, keep your finger on the magnet and top with our Glasswing Glaze topcoat (or a clear jelly or jelly shimmer nail polish and then Glasswing Glaze for an amazing optical illusion that our cell cameras failed to fully capture!) 
   
   
5. For the glass bead magnetic effect, we recommend using Awesome Sauce to give yourself more time with the magnetic spinner device. In our tests it worked beautifully.
